The oldest building in Otaru City

Former Kaiyotei

Otaru-shi designated historic building handed down from the Otaru Meiji era.

Located near JR Minami-Otaru Station,

It is a two-story wooden building with a floor area of 1,807 square meters.

It has been designated as a cultural asset that constitutes a Japanese heritage site, as it was visited by many bows of Kitamaebune ships and merchants.

It is recorded that a banquet was held after the Karafuto Border Demarcation Conference in Akashi no Ma, a large hall with tatami mats.

It is also known as a place visited by many political and business people and celebrities such as Yujiro Ishihara.
